IHM Training utilizes curriculums approved by VA Board of Nursing (VABON), VA Department of Social Services (VDSS),  Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) and/or VCU Gerontology to instruct individuals in a variety of classes to assist them with a career in the medical field 


Personal Care Aide (PCA)


68 Hour Medication Aide

The 40hr Personal Care Aide program meets Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) curriculum for Home Health and Hospice and is also accepted by Virginia Department of Social Services for 'direct patient care staff' in licensed assisted living facilities. This course prepares participant to assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing and toileting, patient transfers, nutrition, oral & personal hygiene with hands-on training by a RN.

The 68hr Medication Administration Course is a Virginia Board of Nursing approved program. The course instructs participant how to administer & assist resident in self-administering medication in assisted living facilities.
Prerequisite to sit for Board Examination includes:
*Virginia Department of Social Services approved 40hr Direct Patient Care program
*Virginia Medicaid approved 40hr Personal Care Assistant certificate
*Virginia Board of Nursing approved Nurse Aide certificate 

Complementary 4Hr Refresher within 60 days of completion to prepare for boards


Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Human Rights 

This course utilizes Virginia’s Competencies  Module for Direct Support Professionals and Supervisors who support individuals with Developmental Disabilities approved by Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 


Therapeutic Options of VA (TOVA)


This course prepares individuals associated with affiliates of IHM Staffing the use of positive practices, building violence-free environments, and reducing reliance on physical intervention in preventing and managing aggression based on the Therapeutic Options Instructor Manual
